CLAIRE ELIZABETH COCHRAN

Born Sunday, January 4, 2009 

Our son Josh and his wife Anna had their first child, but more importantly our first grandchild, in January.  Her name is Claire and she is beautiful.  As grandparents we would say this regardless, but she really is.  The only thing capable of breaking the depression of realizing you are old enough to have grandkids is actually having them.  It seems our main goal in life has now become spoiling Claire.  With your own kids you have to be very careful not to turn them into spoiled, self centered brats.  Not so much with grandkids.  Their parents can straighten them out when they get them back home (sorry Josh & Anna).  Good luck with that by the way! 

Our backyard has been a blank canvas, so to speak, for years (and years and years and years…) begging to be turned into a masterpiece.  We finally have some ideas on what this “masterpiece” should be and hopefully this year we will get some things accomplished.  I’m sure there will be many future posts on our misadventures in this endeavor.

Celebrity Cutting is an event put on each year in Fort Worth by The Careity Foundation to raise money for cancer patient support services.  If you do not know what “cutting” is watch the clip below.  Celebrities from across the country participate and the horses are some of the most beautiful and talented animals you will ever see.  This clip is from the 2007 event and features Tanya Tucker.  Jay Novacek, former Dallas Cowboy tight end, also participated along with many other national and local celebrities.
